Double Esterlon is a balanced double braid polyester which is ultimately a better rope for mooring. Why? Well because Nylon, although has a greater stretch and energy absorption characteristic does NOT like to be wet then dried, then wet again. This will ultimately be why a nylon rope would fail over time. Therefore we choose a top grade polyester fiber with a marine overlay finish that helps lubricate the fibers which help extend its fatigue life.
If you’re thinking you once bought a Yale Cordage Polydyne pendant with a nylon core, you’re probably right. However, 30 years of extensive research has shown, Polyester is a better rope in the long run
